"Mind the gap" is an audible or visual warning phrase issued to rail passengers to take car while boarding or alighting from trains. The phrase was first introduced in 1968 on the London Underground in the UK.

    1. The original London Underground announcement was recorded by sound engineer Peter Lodge, working with an actor reading "Mind The Gap". But Lodge discarded the tapes, and recorded the phrase himself. Why?

    2. In which city's Metro system can the following announcement be heard: "Let bij het in- en uitstappen op de ruimte tussen metro en perron"?

    3. The actor Oswald Laurence recorded "Mind The Gap" for the Northern Line in the 1970s. His voice has since been replaced at all stations except Embankment. Why was it kept for this station?
