Brumation is a lethargic state that some ectothermic animals, such as many reptiles, assume during cold conditions. Partly analogous to hibernation (for endotherms and other heterotherms) but physiological differences include that brumation does not depend on stored fat, but rather on reduced metabolic activity.
1. What is the box or nest that you must prepare for your pet to allow it brumate in called?
2. How to tell if your pet bearded dragon is in brumation or sick. Which of these is NOT a tell-tale sign of brumation?
3. "Norman’s been doing okay for all I know. He ate the once and then has now gone off food again. It’s colder here in Louisiana now that it’s mid November so I’m wondering if he’s just brumating?". What is Norman?
